Who are we?

We’re Sphinx! We run awesome events throughout the North West and The Midlands. We couldn’t do it without our team of 20 amazing Event Hosts. You can learn more about each of them HERE.

Why Sphinx?

“The Feeling”

We conduct two surveys every year for all of our team. We call these The Feeling. This gives everyone the opportunity to anonymously let us know what they think about how Sphinx is run and how they feel their contributions are recognised.

Our most recent Event Host Survey (January 2024) showed that our team unanimously agree that they want to still be hosting with us in a year’s time. Everyone felt that they are properly equipped, trained and enabled to do their job and that their role with Sphinx gives them transferable skills to further themselves outside of the business.


Our average Event Host satisfaction score was a whopping 95% - and nobody rated us less than 8 out of 10!

Benefits

As well as paying you for every event you host (obviously!), we also have several other benefits and schemes available for all members of our team to take part in.


All of our Event Hosts are automatically enrolled into Perkbox from the moment they successfully complete training. Perkbox is a platform where you can access exclusive discounts for1000s of retailers, get points to spend on whatever you like (free Greggs or Cafe Nero, anyone?) and also provides our entire team with 24/7 access to confidential counselling and support, completely free of charge.

We also operate a profit-share scheme which means when the business does well, so do our hosts!

The entitles each host to 10% of the profit from every event if they are the ones to put us in touch with a new venue - They don’t even have to host it themselves to qualify!


We have two big get-togethers every year for everyone to attend and enjoy. Our summer social is usually outdoors-y and a bit more active. In the past we’ve done scavenger hunts and Tough Mudder. Our winter social is a chance for everyone to kick back, relax and enjoy some food and drink on us as a thank you for everything throughout the year.


There are also excellent opportunities for progression within Sphinx. All of our team in senior positions joined us as Event Hosts before taking on extra responsibilities and the rewards that come with them.

Recruitment FAQs

When will you be recruiting?

We recruit several times a year according to business needs. Keep an eye on our website and social media for news of vacancies, or click HERE to sign up for vacancy alerts via email.

Do I need any specific skills?

Our Event Hosts need to be professional, engaging and able to multi-task. Whilst a lot of our team have backgrounds in presenting, singing, acting or dancing, this isn’t mandatory as long as you’re confident speaking in front of a crowd.

Do I need my own equipment?

We’ll provide everything you need for a successful event, except a laptop, which our Event Hosts provide themselves.

We do have limited computer equipment to loan and offer pay-deduction based laptop purchases too. Feel free to ask about this at interview.

Will I be given training?

Yes. Our eight event training plan will take you from keen player to professional host. Once qualified, there are regular check-ins with our senior team to make sure you have all the support you need.

Is training paid?

Yes. We’ll pay you from the moment you join us, plus you’ll get to benefit from our profit share schemes and bonus incentives from day one as well. 90% of our team felt they were fairly rewarded for their efforts at Sphinx in our last survey.

How many hours do I need to work?

Each event runs for around 2.5 hours, with our Event Host on site for about 3 hours in total. The Event Host role is casual, so there’s no minimum or maximum events one person might host each week.
